The Clinic for Special Children is hosting the 12th Annual Plain Community Health Consortium conference at the Holiday Inn/Imperial Event Center in Downtown Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

This year's conference, themed Rooted in Care, Growing in Knowledge, will focus on the identification, treatment, research, and care of rare genetic disorders in the Plain communities across North America.

Travel
Flights:
Closest airports to the conference location include BWI (Baltimore/Washington Airport – 1.5 to 2 hr drive), PHL (Philadelphia International Airport – 1.5 to 2 hr drive), and HIA (Harrisburg International Airport – 40 minutes to 1 hr drive).

Train: The Lancaster Amtrak station is only 1.5 miles (5 min car ride) from the conference location in downtown Lancaster.

Social Events
Monday, July 20th:
Conference attendees are welcome to join us for a social event after the conference from 7pm – 10pm. Light food and cash bar will be available. Advance registration is required. To reserve your ticket, please answer "yes" to the question in the registration process.

Tuesday, July 21st: Please join us after the conference from 3 pm – 5 pm for a tour of the new Clinic for Special Children facility and an ice cream social. Address is 20 Community Lane, Gordonville, PA 17529 (about a 20–30-minute drive from the conference site).

Purpose & Goals
This event focuses on the clinical care and research of genetic conditions that affect the Plain Community, including Old Order Amish and Mennonites. Conference highlights include novel research and therapies for rare genetic conditions, as well as collaborative efforts among major medical centers, universities, and a consortium of rural health clinics. Clinicians, scientists, midwives, administrators, and members of the Plain community are brought together to discuss relevant health and scientific topics.
